Ise

Travel week was going to begin, but before that we took a small trip to Ise. It is part of the tradition here that every twenty years the temples get rebuilt. From what i understand this is done to allow for the renewal of the spirit, but also to help train future generations of monks of old traditions. pretty cool huh?

i think the best part of the trip was just seeing the temples in a different sort of atmosphere. it was cloudy and overcast which added a mystique to the place. it really felt like we were deep in the japanese countryside.
