Thursday, September 22, 2005

we arrived in kanazawa yesterday and took a tour of the university there. the university is very much interested in keeping traditional arts and crafts alive, but they are also about learning new techniques and coming up with new materials. it's a very cool place. today we got shown around town and we checked out this really fantastic garden. it is one of the biggest gardens in japan and people from all over the world come and see it. if you are ever in japan, this garden is pretty amazing. it's very calming and peaceful...

later that night the kids that showed us around town there us a party at the university...

OMG, we got so F'ed up on beers and sake! lets say i threw up and basically talked in spanish the rest of the night. but here's the good news, in my drunken state back at the hotel that we were staying at, i busted out my laptop and was showing pictures of your guys from the going away party and dude, all i kept hearing was "dude, andrew you've got a lot of hot friends!" and of course my response was a resounding "I KNOW!"

andrew and his HOT friends

they next morning we had to go on the shinkansen (the bullet train) and i was still hungover. we were having breakfast in the train station and we sat next to these smokers and it totally wanted to yack. so i rushed to the bathroom, but the stalls were locked. i thought that i was going to have to yack in the sink. not pretty. anyways all i needed was some fresh air b/c i felt fine afterwards. and after i ate my breakfast, i was totally fine! yay!

here are some drunk pictures. i dont' think i can pull off the whole "v is for victory" thing that most japanese people do. only when i'm drunk i guess...

so after all of this partying we arrived in kyoto, my home for the next couple of months...

"welcome to kyoto!!"
